SACRAMENTS
BAPTISM
(For Children)
There
is an instruction class for parents. This class is mandatory
if the parents have not attended one previously.
Godparents
must be good practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older
and must have received the sacrament of Confirmation.
To
make arrangements, call the Rectory after the child is born
and make arrangements with the Pastor.
BAPTISM
(For Adults)
Adults,
who have not already been baptized, can receive the
sacrament after a series of instructions according to the
RCIA program. At the time of Baptism, they also receive the
sacraments of Penance (Confession), Holy Eucharist (Holy
Communion) and Confirmation.
RECONCILIATION
(Confession)
This
sacrament is administered every Saturday from 3:00 to 3:45
p.m. and at special times before Holy Days and holidays. If
someone would like to receive this sacrament at any other
time, they may come to the rectory and see the priest there.
The
children of the First Communion Class in St. Elizabeth’s
CCD program receive this sacrament twice before receiving
their First Communion, once face to face and once in the
confessional. They are given instructions and participate in
a Penance Service; their parents also attend a Penitential
class.
HOLY
EUCHARIST
This
sacrament is given to children for the first time after they
have attended preparation classes through St. Elizabeth’s
CCD program. The child must be at least in second grade.
Parents must attend a class of instruction. First Communion
is usually the first Saturday in May.
Holy
Communion is administered at all Masses. If anyone is sick
or homebound, arrangements can be made to have Holy
Communion brought to the person at home. Please call the
rectory to make arrangements.
CONFIRMATION
The
sacrament of Confirmation is administered to the 8th grade
children of St. Elizabeth’s CCD program and any adults
seeking to receive it.
The
Bishop confers this sacrament every year.
MATRIMONY
A
couple must contact the Pastor at least one year before the
desired wedding date, and before making reception
arrangements. No weddings can be scheduled for Sunday. Either
the bride or groom must be a registered parishioner in the
census of Saint Elizabeth's Church.
SACRAMENT
OF THE SICK
This
sacrament can be administered to anyone who is ill and who
has already received the sacraments of Penance and Holy
Eucharist. This sacrament is also administered to someone
who is dying. When someone is ill, this sacrament should be
encouraged.
